Young's Modulus Apparatus, Economical

  • Useful for researching the Young's modulus of elasticity, the relationship between the load placed on a wire and the extension that results. Additionally useful for comparing the elastic moduli of two different wires. Two thick sheet metal strips are attached in a rectangular plate, parallel to one another, with metal hooks for the loading masses at the bottom and clamping screws for wires at the top. A moveable Vernier of L.C. 0.1mm is mounted to one of the metal strips and is attached to the plate's 0-40 1mm scale. A ceiling clamp with two wooden screws for hanging cables from the top is also provided.
